On January 2, 2026, gunmen abducted two brothers—Dr. Abu Ibrahim Babatunde (also referred to as Ibrahim Abu or Dr. Tunde Abu), a house officer undergoing housemanship at the Edo State Teaching Hospital in Auchi, and his younger brother Abu Tahir (also called Abu Momoh, Tahir Abu Emhoye, or Dr. Emhoye in some reports)—at their residence along City Pride Road, Igbira Camp, Auchi.
 The abduction occurred around 7:30 PM as they were entering their compound after work.
The k!dnappers initially demanded a ₦200 million ransom, later reportedly negotiated down in some accounts.
Tragically, on or around January 5, 2026, the younger brother was k!lled by the k!dnappers. Sources indicate he may have been sh0t while attempting to escape, and his body was discovered in the bush near Orley River during a police search operation. He has since been buried.
The elder brother, Dr. Abu Ibrahim, remains in captivity as of the latest reports (January 5-6, 2026).
 The Edo State Police have confirmed the incidents and stated that search-and-rescue operations are ongoing in collaboration with local vigilantes and forest guards.
