Kaiama Massacre: Villagers Killed for Rejecting Bandits’ Indoctrination — Gov Abdulrazaq
Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has revealed that residents of Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area were brutally killed by bandits after refusing to be indoctrinated into their ideology.
Speaking at the Emir of Kaiama’s palace, the governor described the attack as genocide, noting that the victims were targeted for resisting attempts by the bandits to brainwash and influence them.
The Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Muazu Omar, disclosed that at least 75 villagers were massacred in Woro alone, while several others were abducted or remain missing. He added that the attackers used vehicles belonging to the village head to transport abducted victims.
Governor Abdulrazaq also confirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the deployment of a military battalion under Operation Savannah Shield to eliminate bandits operating in Kaiama and nearby Borgu National Park in Niger State.
The governor assured residents that security forces are intensifying efforts and expressed confidence that the criminals would be flushed out within a month.
